My Latest Quilt Project

Have I mentioned that I love quilting? I don't especially love sewing the quilt top together, but I love hand quilting the top. It's relaxing and satisfying.

I'm almost finished with my granddaughter's Hello Kitty quilt so I took some time to put together the next quilt. This one is for my best friend's son and daughter-in-law's new baby - due in December.  Yes, December. There's a good chance I won't have it done by then but they know it's coming!

I did something different with this quilt.  I used pre-cut 10" squares that I purchased from the Missouri Star Quilt Company in Hamilton, Missouri.  I visited the Missouri Star Quilt Company for the first time this past summer and was amazed at all the beautiful quilt fabrics.  Then in October I stopped in again to purchase fabric for this baby quilt.

Because the fabric was so incredibly beautiful, I went with a really simple quilt design - 10" squares.  I'm planning to quilt random squares in each of the squares. The backing will be the peachy/pink/orange color and will wrap around to the top giving the quilt a pop of color at the edge.

I'm pretty excited about this quilt and can't wait to get started.  But first . . . Hello Kitty quilt, here I come!
